Fyp Report

Title

The Art Of Life

Abstract

In this application, user gets to go into the world that is inspired by an abstract painting by Mr. Anasswadi. There the user can communicate with the creatures, trees and humans. Each of them symbolizes something. User gets to explore the whole world and learn about the world and the hidden meanings behind the creatures, buildings by talking to them. This application will give the user an experience on how is it to be in an imaginary world which was inspired by an abstract artwork.

Target Audience

Matured teenagers and young adults from the age of 16 – 25, people from this age are usually open towards violence and dark fantasy compared to adults. Due to its dark, violent and scary content, kids are advised to stay away from it. It may also appeal more towards males compared to females.

Goal

The goal of this application is to create an imaginary world that is inspired by an abstract painting created by Mr. Anasswadi apart of the Mystical Journey Series. This world will have the same colour theme and mood as the series.

The advantages of doing this in VR, is to educate the younger generation about abstract art, and the meaning behind it. This is because abstract art is not a type of artwork that is enjoyed by many people. So I feel that if you can at least educate the younger generation about it, they might grow up trying to enjoy the beauty and hidden meanings behind an abstract artwork and not just look at it as colours scribbled on a black sheet of paper.

Unlike being in an art class and learning how to appreciate abstract art the boring way, users can actually browse through this world and get an idea on what this artwork is about. By doing so, this may give him/her idea on what other artworks means or how he can interpret other artworks.

As far as I know, I haven’t bumped into any virtual worlds inspired by an abstract artwork in the net so far.

Objective

• To allow users immerse into a virtual world with stunning visuals and audio effects
• To create a fresh experience for users
• To give users experience on how is it to be in a virtual world.
• To create interest on abstract art.
• To show/educate users on how to interpret ideas from an abstract art.
• To allow having as much freedom within the virtual world yet limited scope to keep users on the topic

Description

When the user runs the application, it will first show the user the artwork. The user will be given options to proceed with the application or the about the artwork and artist page. In the about page, users will be given a brief introduction about the artist and he’s artwork, and also the artist interpretation about the artwork.

When proceed to the virtual environment, the user will first be in the first level, which is the dark and scary level, there user will encounter with creatures that look very mean and scary, the avatars from this level will also be very unfriendly and most of the time they will not talk to him. If he chooses to interact with them, they will either answer in short or just growl at him. The buildings in this level will also look very old, haunted and disturbing. The user has no choice but to go through this level, and towards the end of the level, user will bump into a character which will show him to another level.

In this level, it will be the total opposite from the previous level; in this level the characters will be more friendly and welcoming. The characters in this level will also be more talkative and jovial. They will talk a lot. Even the wild animals such as bears, dragons will look very friendly and happy. The buildings found in this level will also be very different from the one in the previous level. The houses will look very calm and mythical.

The user can explore the whole world. The user cannot die or get hurt. The more the user explores the world the more he will understand the artwork. The user also can choose whether he wants to walk or fly through the world. If the users choose to fly he’ll meet the creatures in the sky but won’t be able to meet the creatures, plants or buildings in the land.
